About

My name’s Chris, I’m 21 years old and I live in England, although I was born in France. The “main” thing I’m doing at the moment is studying for a Master’s degree in Maths at Oxford University, which I love. Aside from maths, I’m interested in languages, music, travel, and constantly learning what the world is like. There’s probably loads of other things I might be interested in, which I haven’t discovered yet – but hopefully will!

Maths

I’m going into my fourth and final year of my degree, which is the Master’s year. My areas of study are Algebra, Algebraic Topology, and Category Theory. Or in other words, studying abstract structures, using abstract structures to study shapes and stuff, and generalising some of the aforementioned abstract structures.

Languages

I was born in France and had the great fortune to live there when I was young, and have spent a lot of time there since. I speak French, and I’m currently learning Spanish (reasonably well) and Russian (not so well yet).

Other Interests

I like to sing and play the piano, and sometimes play the euphonium too. Currently I sing with Trinity College Chapel Choir, Oxford, where I’m a Choral Scholar. So far I haven’t done huge amounts of travel outside of family holidays, certainly a lot less than I plan to in the future – but I have been on some exciting trips, which you can read about in my travel posts.
